Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge # 24~Y is for Yuck!

Hi All!

I hope your holidays have been joyous and peaceful!

Edna's back again with another challenge at the

You can make card/project about something that's yucky...check Sister Jessi and our Fantastic Guest Designer, Sister Veerle artwork, that's what they did.  Another way is to use some product you think is yucky.

Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, what's yucky to one is often beautiful to others.  Therefore, tell us why you feel something in your creation is yucky...because between drinking, baking, drinking, wrapping presents, drinking, sitting on Santa's lap, drinking, handling the holidays, drinking, eating, drinking, and being quite crazy anyway, we Sisters might miss the yuckiness.  But if you enter the challenge after the new year the Sisters might be doing a little less drinking, but I can't promise it will apply to everyone.

First, my Yuck part...the paper.  I didn't buy it...it was given out at a crop I attended recently.  I don't like the colors or the design.  There is no real red or blue, just weird shades of them.  And what's with the notebook paper and and flowery doily part, both pretending to be layered...I mean what were they thinking.  ;-)   It's hard to tell in the photo, but the colors are just so strange it doesn't look patriotic,  even with the fireworks.  Also who takes a piece of notebook paper to the fireworks...are they planning to write down the ones they liked the best?  I started think maybe it could be used for a graduation or school award card...you know, the notepaper.  So that's what I turned it into by adding "You're a Star!" on the inside.  Making something nice out of, in my opinion, some yucky paper.  Ooooh, maybe that means I don't have to purge my paper collection after all!  :-)

I do just love how the star turned out.  Layering the pattern paper with the corrugated cardboard took away most of the yuckiness of the paper.  The stars were cut with Fun Stampers Journey's Stardom Die~DI-0052.

Challenge #24 ends on Friday, January 10th at 11:55 pm EDT

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #23 N is for Naughty Christmas!

Hi Everyone!

Edna is excited to announce Challenge #23: N is for Naughty Christmas at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!  She even dressed up for the occasion.  Don't you love Edna's delightful Christmas sweater...she told me her sister made it for her, well at least that's the story.  Edna thinks it's really BEA-U-TI-FUL and especially loves her poinsettia corsage!

Santa is pretty upset with his situation and is saying a few choice words.  I think it would be best if we all followed the advice for next year.  Besides it is much more fun to be naughty, isn't it?

Both stamps are from Crackerbox Palace Rubber Stamps.  They are Santa in Chimney and Save Santa a Trip.  They are embossed in black.

The frame and holly are from Fun Stampers Journey.  These dies come in a pack and include decoration and words for Christmas, Valentines. Fall, and Halloween.  It is called Snapshot Frames Die Template and can be ordered on my site at funstampersjourney.com/karens

The snow is Liquid Pearls with Distress Rock Candy Stickle Glitter.  A white Uni-ball pen was used to make the snowflakes in the background.

SoSS Challenge #22 ~ V is for Vintage

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to our V is for Vintage Challenge over at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

Edna's going back to her childhood.  She's on "cloud 9" because this time she gets to drive the family car!  The car is "like crazy; like wow"!  Edna's definitely a "hep" "chick" who's going to "pop the clutch" and "punch it"!  Too bad it's a "tank" and not "souped up".

Although Edna looks like she's visiting the late 40's - early 50's, my football card is highlighting an earlier era.

I made my card with the ultimate vintage card stock ~ Graphic 45.  The collection I used is Good Ol' Sports...I won it at a scrapbook convention!  No need for any stamping on the front of the card.

I forgot to take a photo of the inside before I gave it to a friend who wants it for her husband.  Here's what she asked for the sentiment:  "Too bad you can't make touchdowns anymore, you old fart!  Have a Happy Birthday anyway!"

Since my vintage card is about football, I added some photos of my dad's older cousin, Al Beitzinger.  He played for the Marquette University Football Team in the late 1930's.

Make sure to visit our "radioactive" Design Team.  We're a "tight group and not at all "square".  Hope you're all "cranked" about our V is for Vintage Challenge.

Challenge #22 ends on Friday, December 13th at 11:55 pm EDT

SOSS #21 P is for Profanity: Swear if You Dare

Hi, and welcome to the 21st Challenge of the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!  Well since we're all grown up at 21, maybe you'll hear a few swear words out of us during this challenge.

Did you notice Edna?  She's trying to be good...but it's pretty difficult for her to hold back so that's where the duct tape comes into play.

Stella likes duct tape too...especially when she wraps it around Gus!  Gus isn't too happy, in fact he's thinking WTF!  Since he can't talk, I decided to write it for him.  I don't think it's going to help, Stella's pretty set on keeping Gus wrapped up.  A digi stamp (from Bugaboo) about duct tape deserves to be placed on a roll of duct tape.  A great gift and card together!

Make sure you visit all the other sisters and check out if they dared to swear in our Challenge #21~P is for Profanity.  You have until Friday, November 28th to link up your artwork!  Do you dare to swear?

BTW, when you spill water on your keyboard, your computer doesn't work the same.  With all caps, no delete, no return, no letter P, and who knows what else I couldn't finish my post there.  Do you know the view in iPad doesn't let you scroll down all the way and add stuff past a certain point!  I did swear, a bit.  This morning, hopeful everything dried out I turned on my computer.  It's now in Safe Boot mode and wants my password...no problem.....NOT!  The password is case sensitive...S. H. I. T.
A tad bit more profanity was used.  I won't bother sharing, I think you can guess what else was said!

Challenge #21 ends on Friday, November 29 at 11:55 pm EDT

Fun Stampers Journey Card for Jingle Belles Pink Christmas #3

Welcome!

I made this card for the Jingle Belles Pink Christmas Challenge.  Here's what they had to say about this challenge:

"We're pretty sure everyone who's ever played along at ♥JINGLE BELLES♥ saw this one coming, but that doesn't make it any less exciting! Yes, once again, in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are celebrating ♥PINK CHRISTMAS♥! What does that mean? Well, we'd like to see holiday cards with a noticeable bit of pink on them, and for every card you guys link up, Stephanie and Lauren are each donating $2 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation!"  Pretty cool!
This is the last of three cards I made.  The products I used are from Fun Stampers Journey.  I used the Snow Burst stamp set and the Frosty Fun ATS (Artist Trading Stamp).  The ink is Whip Cream; the CS is Watermelon Fusion, Black Licorice, and Blue Lagoon.  I colored Frosty with Copics and accented him with Journey Sparkle Dust and Journey Glaze.

If you're interested in purchasing any of these items you can find them at my FSJ site.

Komen Foundation!"  Pretty cool!

This is the second of three cards I made.  All products I used are from Fun Stampers Journey.  It's a CAS card this time using the Journey Circles die and the Snow Burst stamp set. The ink is Whip Cream; the CS is Watermelon Fusion, Black Licorice, and Blue Lagoon.  I stamped the snowflake using Whip Cream ink on the Watermelon Fusion CS and centered it in the Journey Circle die.  I embellished it with a Sparkle Dot.  I cut out a piece of CS to look like the top of an ornament, and covered it with Journey Sparkle Dust.  A Paper Clip Element (they are so small and cute) was added behind the top and Black Gingham Ribbon was added.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #18- I is for Iconic

I is for Iconic!

Edna looks pretty snazzy and definitely iconic, doesn't she!  I think she fits the definition of the word perfectly!  "Someone or something widely recognized and well-established, very successful and admired, widely known and acknowledged especially for distinctive excellence, a widely known symbol."  I know Edna, especially Flat Edna, is admired, widely known, and acknowledged for her excellence in finding good wines and Wisconsin craft beer!  Check out Flat Edna's photos in this previous post (L is for Layer-One Layer), if you don't believe me.

I worked on a number of cards with different iconic people...they ended up it pieces!  They just weren't meant to be.  As I thought about it I realized Katharine Hepburn is truly iconic.  I love all of her movies...she is spunky and as I realized, pretty snarky too!  When I saw the quote I knew I had to use it!

I feel this photo of Katharine Hepburn fits the quote I used.  The free font is Smilage.  The specialty paper has shimmery silver flowers, but the photo doesn't do it justice.

I found this October 31, 2007 article, Diary reveals feisty side of Katharine Hepburn, in The Telegraph  This is the part I loved...so snarky!

{On a 1950 tour of As You Like It Hepburn records in her journal how she was arrested for speeding by an Oklahoma policeman.
Taken to a local lawyer's office, she slammed the door in the officer's face as she announced: "I have been arrested by this moron."
Her anger grew as they tried to find a judge. "I said that I was sorry I did not have a week to take off and if I ever found an Oklahoma car in Connecticut, I would flatten all the tyres," she wrote.}

I can't believe she called the cop a moron!  My one pet peeve...these entries are from her journals and I'm pretty sure she spelled tires the American way, but the article spells it tyres.  How dare the British!  ;-)

Challenge #18 ends on Friday, October 17t at 11:55 pm EDT   Find your favorite Iconic person, place or thing and have some fun!  Then just enter your project at SoSS.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stamper's First Annual Spectacular September Snark Off Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers First Annual Spectacular September Snark Off Blog Hop

"We have found our people!

There is a one woman company, Rubber Dance Art Stamps, in far off Norway that speaks our language. I don't mean English. I mean SNARK! She makes a whole rubber plate of snark! This divine product of snarkitude must be shared, and we have accepted that challenge.

The plate is called "Sarcasm Superpowers" and it is obviously perfect for our Sisterhood. We want to share this awesomeness with you, so we our hosting our first blog hop, the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers First Annual Spectacular September Snark Off Blog Hop!"  Sister Lee

Here's a little bio about Rubber Dance Art Stamps:

"Rubber Dance is a home based stamp company in the beautiful south-east of Norway, and is run by yours truly - Bibi Lindahl. I have my own vulcanizer, the machine one uses to press rubber stamps (at some 150+ Celsius/300+ F and 2 tons pressure), which means I will never run out of stock (yay!), and I will always know that the stamps I ship out are flawless (hurray!). The raw rubber I use is of the highest quality red rubber, imported from a manufacturer in USA that is very popular among stamp makers, and my stamps are of course deeply engraved to ensure good and clean impressions when you stamp."

Here are the Blog Hop rules:
Leave a comment on each blog, beginning with Lee, and ending with Bibi.
You have until Sept. 28th at 1155pm PST to complete the hop.  Enjoy!!!

We will use some sort of free computer tool to pick a random winner and announce it on Wednesday, Oct 1.

You should have arrived here from Lynne's Blog.

Here is my creation using the "Not My Circus, Not My Monkeys" Sarcasm Superpowers" stamp.

The Clowns are a freebie from Freubels Freebies.  I found the monkeys on a search of "scary monkey" images.  The yellow CS was embossed with the Crackle folder by Darice.  I used Black Versafine ink on the "Not My Circus, Not My Monkeys" Sarcasm Superpowers" stamp.  The pointing finger hands are freebies from The Graphics Fairy.

Your next step on the blog hop is Donna's blog.
Here's the list of blogs from both of the Design Teams, in case you get lost along the way.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.  I truly appreciate it!

SoSS Challenge # 17: D is for Distressing

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge # 17 - D is for Distressing

Edna seems a bit distressed with this challenge.  Don't be Edna and Scream!  Whether you do a lot of distressing. or just a little you can enter our challenge.

I embossed some Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Cardstock and distressed it with sandpaper over the entire surface and edges.  I added more distressing with direct to paper inking. I cut a slit in the cardstock to insert the The Hand from Crackerbox Palace Stamps.  I did not use the entire stamp, just the hand. I found some playing card images online and printed them in three sizes, two for the front and one for the inside top (printed at 60% opacity).  I distressed both the cards and the hand with Distress Ink.  I used a label die to frame the saying, printed using the free Distress font.

Challenge #17 ends on Friday, October 3rd at 11:55 pm EDT   Don't be distressed, just enter your project at SoSS.

You'll have a chance to win the auspicious title of Queen or Princess of Snark!
You know you want to win it!  If you're our Queen, you can be our Guest Designer!

Wine: Doctor's Orders

Hi All!

I don't always follow my doctor's orders, but this is an easy one!  I just need to find a glass that big!  The image is Glass of Wine a Day from Bugaboo and was colored with Copics.  The sentiment was printed in the free font, Smilage and it's background was created in Pages.  The embossing folder is Fabric Weave from the Celebra'tions line at Spellbinders.  I just love this embossing folder...it looks so rich!

I'm entering this card in the following challenge:
Quirky Craft Challenge #18 : Red, Red Wine

SoSS Challenge #16 - O is for One: One Color

Welcome to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #16: O is for One-One Color

I think the subtleness of this card is due to working with only one color.  The beautiful sentiment is Love, Memory, Treasure from Crackerbox Palace Stamps.  The cardstock, background paper, ribbon, and brads are from my stash.  The ink is Peeled Paint Distress Ink.

Challenge #16 ends on Friday, September 19th, at 11:55 pm EDT   Link your project at SoSS
