FSJ Mixed Media ~ In The Tropics Notebook Easel

Hi All!

I'm Prepped to Play and so is Fun Stampers Journey!  Creating with Mixed Media is a blast!
The FSJ Notebook Easel is calling you to come up with all kinds of creative Mixed Media ideas!  It's a blank canvas just waiting for your creations.  It's normally a bargain with 65 pages at only $5.95, but it's also one of the Prepped to Play items, so it's 20% off this month!

I've fallen in love with the Tropics, actually the In The Tropics stamps and dies.  Most of you know that hot, humid weather is not my cup of tea, but guess what... iced hibiscus tea is!

I took the covers off the Notebook Easel easily.  You just need  pry apart the wires enough to get them off.  Then while holding down the Vintage Screen Stencil, I added modeling paste spreading it with my spatula. I did not cover the entire stencil.
After the modeling Paste had dried overnight I painted the covers using Limeade Splash, Lemon Drop, and Green Olive Paint

To make the flowers I put some drops of Watermelon Fusion Liquid Color on a block.  (Make sure you put the Liquid Color on the smooth side of the block, otherwise it will get into the grid lines.)   Taking the hibiscus flower stamp, I rubbed it into the Watermelon Fusion Liquid Color.

I then turned the stamp over and added very tiny drops of Lavender Fusion Liquid Color at the center of the flower and the stamen.   I really didn't squeeze it at all.

No color was added  along the pistal, it appears to have used (ooh, wait for it...science lesson alert) capillary action to fill it in.
I’m able to get three flowers out of the Liquid Color.
For the leaves I took Lemon Drop and Limeade Splash Liquid Colors, mixed them together on a block, and then stamped the leaves.

As a die-hard Packer fan, I'm really enjoying these colors.  BTW, the Packers beat the Titans last night, 17-31!
I die cut the flowers and leaves and attached them using Medium Foam Squares.  Pink World Sequins were added.  Of course I had to use Sparkle Silk...you can never have too much of Sparkle Silk!

Here you can see more of the dimension you get when using Modeling Paste.
I tied a double bow using the Black Licorice Gingham Ribbon. Check out the FSJ YouTube video on How to Tie a Double Bow.

Loving My Gel Press!

Hi Everyone!

I like how this Gel Press Print pops on the Black Licorice Cardstock.  I mixed Citrus Cooler. Limeade Splash, and Lemon Drop paint on the Gel Press.  I then placed the Starburst Lines Stencil over the top.

--------

Here I used Citrus Cooler and Lemon Drop paint and pulled a print using the Vintage Screen stencil.  I later had some Green Olive ink left on the Gel Press after a print and used the Stained Glass Stencil to add something to break up the background.

--------

For my final card I mixed Bubble Gum and Sweet Berry paints, using the Artful Wall stencil.

Only Fun Stampers Journey products were used in the cards.  You can find all these supplies and others on my website: funstampersjourney.com/karens

Hi All!

I'm back with some more Make a Wish cards using the Gel Press.  These cards were made using the Linked Lines stencil.

I really like the look you get when creating Gel Press prints on Black Licorice cardstock; you need to try it!

I used Sweet Berry, Whip Cream, and Cool Pool paints pouncing at first and then mixing the paints with the brayer.

The same thing was done, but with Sweet Berry and Blue Lagoon paints on this card.

Only Fun Stampers Journey products were used in the cards.  You can find all these supplies and others on my website: funstampersjourney.com/karens

I Love, Love, Love My FSJ Gel Press!!!

Hi All!

I love, love, love my FSJ Gel Press!!!  I feel like a little kid with the freedom to create whatever I want.

Creating with our FSJ Gel Press is so much fun!  You not only create one print, but can lift at least one other print, with what you have left on the Gel Press and/or the stencil.  Two or three for the same price...I always love a bargain!

If I don't care for the print at first, I can add another layer or put it away to peruse at a later date.  I've taken out creations I wasn't happy with at first and found them perfect to use with a different stamp or as a small decorative piece on a card.

During the next few days I'll be showing cards using the same ATS stamp, "Make a Wish" in similar layouts using different types of Gel Press prints.

For this card I used two of my favorite FSJ acrylic paint colors, Blue Lagoon and Sweet Berry, with the Starburst Lines stencil on Whip Cream Cardstock.  I kept the paints pretty much separate, only blending them a bit in the middle.

This card was printed on Black Licorice Cardstock using Lemon Drop and Limeade Splash acrylic paints.  The paints were pounced until mixed.  The stencil is Bloom Wall.

Only Fun Stampers Journey products were used in the cards  You can find all these supplies and others on my website: funstampersjourney.com/karens

Get Fired Up!

Hi All!
I'm back again and using Crackerbox Palace Stamps!

The first step of this card was painting wet watercolor paper with dry brushed acrylic paint.   I also painted two pieces of cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress PaintsRena's Rock was cut out of one using Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw, Walnut Stain, and Tarnished Bronze Distress Paints. Rena's Fire Dragon-Alhern was cut out of the other sheet made with Mowed Lawn, Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean, Ripe Persimmon, and Tarnished Bronze Distress Paints. Alhern's fire was accented with Orange Peel Stickles.

I am submitting this card to:

Dr. Seuss Canvas

This is the second canvas I've made for my great-niece and great-nephew.  Love Dr. Seuss quotes!!

As I make more canvas art I hope I will start to feel free enough to start experimenting with mixed media art.  It is had to let go and risk it, but as I have found, you can just add more paint and cover up what you do not like.

I used gesso, a variety of acrylic paints, white card stock edged with Tim Holtz Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain, and covered with Mod Podge.  The Mod Podge is water-based and allows the distress stain to tint the card stock a bit.  The Mod Podge I used was the glossy finish...I have a gallon of it!?!  When I do another canvas I would cover it with the Matte finish.  The font I used, "For The One Hundredth Time",  is free and available for download at kevinandamanda.com.  It is such a fun font to use!

You're Braver Than You Believe...

Here is my first canvas project.  It is pretty simple--gesso, acrylic paints, Mod Podge, and Close to My Heart Cricut® Art Philosophy letters...tried painting them, but my hand is definitely not steady enough.  The canvas is 18" x 24".  I made this for my Great-Nephew and Great-Niece for their playroom. I'm in the process of making another one for them with a Dr. Seuss quote.
